🚀 This Week's Amazon Hack: USA Inks Trade Deal With China

I bring you good news!

The deal is done, folks! And Santa came early if you source from China for your products on Amazon. The even better news is that this deal is guaranteed to last the next 12 months. We asked the White House for clarity, and now we have it!

This was easily the biggest news of the deal. Tariffs on Chinese goods are now down to 20% which is down from 54% in May. And the fear of 157% tariffs is now gone. The "great trade war crisis" is officially over.

One caveat, though. All 2018 category-specific tariffs are still in play, so make sure you do your math correctly.

Go ahead, you can pop the champagne.

Going forward, I expect container prices to skyrocket. It will be business as usual for most Amazon sellers.

If I were you, I would stock up starting now. Yes, I know there's a deal, but as we have seen from previous agreements, things can go wrong fast. I will say that this one feels different. The face-to-face meeting between Trump and Xi was historic. I think this one is going to stick.

One clarification: While the 20% sounds nice, your overall total cost will be higher on average. Depending on your product, you will pay between 20% and 50% when you factor in MFN duty, Section 301, and the reciprocal tariffs.

Now, you might be asking about the upcoming Supreme Court ruling. I'll be honest, don't expect a ruling against tariffs. There is a ton of executive branch precedent dating back to George Washington. I would bank on SCOTUS ruling in Trump's favor.

This would mean that you get ZERO retroactive credits. I would plan to view the past as a sunk cost. It's time to move forward.

🔥 Hot Amazon Seller News: 3rd Party Software Just Got More Expensive

Yes, this includes your third-party ad software, reimbursement software, and profit tracking software. Literally everyone is affected by this.

For years, API calls by third-party software programs were FREE, and many thought this day would never come. Amazon answers to its shareholders. You should have seen this coming.

Amazon receives billions of API calls every single day. Now, there will be a fee involved. Guess who gets to pay for this? You do! Yayyyyy!

The big boys like Pacvue will be fine, but most are smaller in size, and this will impact them in a pretty drastic way.

Starting January 31, 2026, all third-party software solutions relying on API calls will be charged an annual fee of $1,400. And there's more.

I added this to the newsletter today because I don't want you to be shocked when you start getting emails from software companies about price increases. And, no, this is not due to inflation. This is a cash grab to keep Amazon shareholders happy, happy, happy!

You will need to decide who to keep and who to delete going forward. Also, some software companies have admitted that they will simply refresh their data less often, so you will need to ask each company about this. The most current data is CRITICAL for your business.
