🚀 This Week's Amazon Hack: Don't Lose Your Shirt

This is a little late, but Amazon's new deal fee structure has kicked in. Shocked, I tell you, shocked! It's going to change your strategy a wee bit, but overall, the goal is the same: focus on sales velocity, review accumulation, and brand awareness.

So, what changed?

Well... Lightning Deals and Best Deals are now tied to your sales, and the Prime Exclusive Discount fee has doubled in price.

Lightning Deals used to be a flat $150 fee. Now? It's $70/day plus 1% of sales (capped at $2,000).

Best Deals used to be a flat $300 for your 7-day deal. Now? It's $70/day plus 1% of sales. Oof.

Prime Exclusive Discounts used to be $50 per discount, but now they are a cool $100.

I know, not a fun reality, but these price increases are here to stay, sadly. Notice how Amazon made this change right before Prime Day in July. What a Scrooge move!

This Prime Day, use Best Deals for your hero SKUs with fast-moving inventory and Prime Exclusive Discounts for the rest. What's really cool about PD Discounts is that they are prioritized in search results for Prime Day, so the visibility alone will be gold.

Oops, one more thing! Avoid what so many sellers do on Prime Day. Not tracking ads in real-time! Amazon has a nasty track record of allowing glitches to happen. Don't let your ads get out of control! Watch them closely and make sure that nothing is out of whack. Yes, this means that you can't be away from your computer for these 4 days. I cannot stress this enough.

Prime Day is officially July 8-11! You're probably already way past the bulk of your planning, but at least we now know for sure. I'm kind of not excited about the four-day thing, but this is Amazon's world, and we are simply playing in it.

This year, Amazon is pushing digital products and security HARD. They will have music deals highlighted as well as a section dedicated to Wyze products for Buy With Prime.

As always, my advice is to be strategic and to view Prime Day not from a profit perspective but as a review and sales velocity driver. Prime Day is not about making money. It's about everything else in your business. This is the time to crack 1,000 reviews or leverage the HALO effect of high sales to spill over into Q4. Another way you can view Prime Day is through brand awareness. Yes, your Prime Day numbers will look awful, but if you zoom out and realize that countless people know about your brand now, THAT is a huge win.
