๐Ÿš€ This Week's Amazon Hack: The KISS Method for Product Launches

Now that Prime Day is over, it's back to the grind. For many of you, that means back to regularly scheduled product launches. Last week, I shared that many people have asked me for insert card strategies. The second most requested topic is product launches so that's what I'm focusing on today!

I call this the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method. I love pie. Who doesn't? So, today I'm going to talk about slices of pie. Put all the slices together and you get one delicious, beautiful pie.

Before we get started, I'm assuming you have beautiful pictures, videos, and optimized copy on your listing. Before reading more, go and do those things first.

Slice #1: Smart Pricing

This one is going to hurt but you need to hear it. Your first 6 months are not meant to maximize profit. They are meant to maximize sales velocity and reviews.

Here is the exact pricing strategy that I use as well as my clients:

Week 1-4: 25% below target price

Week 5-8: 20% below

Weeks 9-12: 15% below

Weeks 13-16: 10% below

Weeks 17-20: 5% below

Target Reached ๐Ÿฅ‚

Remember, this is a model so adjust accordingly for your category. I see sellers being much more aggressive!

Slice #2: Embrace Vine

I get tired of people cautioning sellers about using Amazon's Vine program to get their first 30 reviews. Here's the reality. Vine reviewers get products for FREE, so they are psychologically conditioned to lean more positively in terms of their feedback.

Let's get into the numbers. On average, Vine reviews are 0.5 stars higher than non-Vine reviews. That is not a typo my friend. I think Vine gets a bad rap because they are the very first reviews that arrive on your listing. They are hyperanalyzed. When you look at your reviews a year from now, you'll see that they rock. Embrace Vine and don't look back.

Slice #3: Utilize Your Email List

No, this is not anything related to Amazon. This is your private Shopify email list that you should have been building up for your brand.

I was just talking to one of my coaching clients about this and using their email list had never occurred to them! it's a massive hack for your launch and here's why. This is DIRECT traffic coming to your listing from outside of Amazon. Their freaking love this.

The other benefit is that this is your tribe. They trust you. they are going to be VERY generous when it comes to making a purchase on Amazon and leaving a review.

Keep it simple when blasting your email list. Use something like this:

"Hey there "name"! We are launching some cool new products on Amazon and need your help! We would love for you to support us on there and leave a review."

See? Simple. You will be stunned at how many respond positively to this email and buy something at full price.

Slice #4: Influencers

This one has many flavors but my favorite is a combination between product seeding and using a launch service like Stack Influence.

Product seeding is a fancy way of saying you are mailing free samples of your product to influencers and not asking for anything in return. For this part of the strategy, I recommend packing it nicely with a handwritten note from you. Ship out 25-50 samples and watch as they promote your product to their following in a very organic way.

Launch services like Stack Influence are much more formal and they honestly do all the work for you. It's a perfect pairing with product seeding for your launch as they work with influencers who understand the Amazon ecosystem inside and out.

Slice #5: Slickdeals FTW!

This one is a bit gray hat and never talked about in Amazon circles. Slickdeals is a discount site with a cultish following. They spend literally all their time buying discounted products and talking about them on their built-in forum.

Technically, Slickdeals doesn't allow the brand owner to submit deals but all you need to do is have a family member or friend submit it for you from their IP address. Slickdeals can drive thousands of customers to your brand-new listing in under 24 hours so be careful with this one. You've been warned.

There is so much more I could write about this topic but this is a good start and the bulk of it. The rest is common sense like turning PPC on from Day 1, using email autoresponders for growing reviews, and adding coupons to your listing.
